Andres say’s:

“When i was young all i wanted was to be singing on the stage someday, I was then just a normal singer with a very limited range and a voice that used to get tired very easilly . For so long I wondered why other singers were able to sing long gigs and with ease and strength on the high notes and I could not. So, I dedicated my time to try to learn theirs secrets. I studied whit lots of teachers who supposed to teach what they call "Belcanto" but with not success. (for sure wasn t close to Belcanto at all) They taught me everything about “pushing from the diaphragm”, “place the sound in the mask”, “push to sing”, “bring the sound from inside out”, and lots of others “ fancy “ concepts. After spending many years with a lot of different teachers I discovered I hadn’t learned yet how to sing the high notes with ease and master my range (all i learned for years of study was to breathe well but to sing???) , so one day while listening to one of Al Jarreau albums I googled “Al Jarreau’s Vocal Coach” and the name Mr Seth Riggs and Speech Level Singing™ came up , then I decided to go to Los Angeles to the Speech Level Singing™ SummerCamp. And that was the best decision I have ever taken in my professional life! I finally found what I had been looking for. That was the light at the end of the tunel!"

If you are serious about singing, you must try it...

Cathal Jack

Level 1 certified Vocal Coach.

Having first walked in the door of the Galway Voice Studio as a precocious student 4 years ago, Cathal Jack Flaherty has seen Speech Level Singing (SLS) become the centre of his professional life. Having gained wide experience as a full time touring singer and bassist, he has since amassed an enormous amount of knowledge about the workings of the human voice. As a student he has studied with Master Vocal Coaches Spencer Welch, Greg Enriquez, Dean Kaelin, Wendy Parr, and Jeffrey Skouson, and most importantly, with his now co-teacher, Andres Martorell. Now a Level 1 certified SLS instructor, Cathal espouses the practical applications of the SLS technique and puts a particular emphasis on the use of enhanced vocal technique in performance.
Cathal Jack continues his weekly 2.30 Tuesday appointment with Andres which he began four years ago.

Cathal Jack say’s:

“It was my brothers enthusiasm for his work he was doing with Andres which stirred my interest to see what SLS was about. As I had extensively studied bass guitar in Ireland and at Berklee College of Music in the US, I found it an abstract thought to think of applying the same approach to your voce: treating it as an instrument, with all the refinements of technique and practice that implies. My subsequent experiences were a revelation. After 10 years of performing to that point I realized that I had neglected an enormous part of my musicianship. I have since then sought to expand my knowledge of the human voice as thoroughly as possible. In my four years of studying (two of which as a teacher) I have learned to enormously improve my tone, range, endurance and style, while also learning to judge my voice with the objective critique that a professional musician should have about their ability. As a teacher, I am eager to help all of my students with explore their voices in the same way that my teachers have helped me. Feeling good and in control of what you do is hugely beneficial to a performer. What I have learned, and try to teach is such harmonious control, and encourage the joy in expression through singing”.
