Susan Folan (Galway)

Conference Interpreter and Course Coordinator, MA in Conference Interpreting NUI Galway.

"Andres began working with the students of the MA in Conference Interpreting in 2011. An interpreter’s voice is their principal tool, without proper control of this tool they cannot hope to communicate a message properly. It is also essential to learn how best to care for your voice if you hope to maintain a successful career in the profession.
Though dealing primarily with the signing voice, Andres has successfully taught students how to achieve the perfect speaking pitch and maintain this comfort level even whilst working under extreme pressure.
His lectures on vocal health and voice theory were extremely engaging and he also designed specific exercises for each student to make the best of their voice. Another bonus is that Andres is multilingual, just like our students and could assist them with vocal issues irrespective of their mother tongue. He has a gentle patient manner when dealing with students and even on the toughest days, when students struggled with the practical skills of a difficult profession, Andres still managed to illicit a smile from students and refocus their attentions on their success and goals.

Antoinette Dunleavy (Dublin)

Vocalist The Commitments & Groove Boy

"As well as being a very busy wedding singer who works with the cream of the crop of the Irish wedding industry I'm also lucky enough to count myself as one of the busiest Soul and House Music session singers in the country - travelling both nationally and internationally on a regular basis to write with and sing with some of the most talented musicians, writers and DJ's in the world.
Having never had any musical or vocal training and quite honestly being of the naive opinion that I didn't need vocal training as I was a 'natural' singer and training would interfere with my vocal 'style', I'd started to suffer serious vocal strain about three years ago.
A session with a Dublin based ENT specialist confirmed that there was no lasting damage to my vocal chords but, needless to say, it was the fright that I needed to start taking proper care of my voice after years of untrained singing.
I needed to be sure that I chose the right person to help me tackle my bad habits though and as such, I spent the guts of a year seriously researching the various vocal techniques and practitioners in Ireland before deciding that the SLS technique was the only technique to really help me with the vocal issues I was having.
I can hand on heart say that working with Andres has not only nearly eliminated all of the bad habits I'd accumulated through using my voice 'untrained' all over the years but it has also given me the tools to increase my vocal range, ability and potential as a singer. As an example, over the last three weeks I've had one day off vocally - doing vocals on some days for a total of 10 hours a day. I wouldn't have had that level of vocal endurance two years ago.
I've been attending Andres for 18 months and now treat taking care of my voice like a musician takes care of their instrument. I now fully appreciate that my voice needs regular and consistent care and training - therefore SLS and my sessions with Andres have become a way of life for me.
Andres takes my vocal health as seriously as I do and as such I genuinely cannot recommend him highly enough. I'd be delighted to talk anybody through my personal experience of how SLS has contributed to my singing career and if anybody would like to contact me about it please feel free to do so through my website"

Brian Hogan (Ireland)

Singer and Bass, Preachers Son & Kila

"I heard about Andres via a mutual friend who was literally singing his praises. I was recording a new album and as per usual I had several vocal lines that were at the extremities of my range. After one lesson with Andres, I was able to reach every note with ease without any problem whatsoever.
His exercises were specific to my voice and the process was easy going and comfortable, so much so that I brought Andres to the recording studio with me to coach me through the more difficult tracks which was a great help and is something I would really recommend.
Anyone who takes their singing seriously should try this guy out no matter if they are amateur or professional. To have the facility of your full vocal range will open a whole new world to you and Andres is the man who can do this! He's a lovely fella too!

John Gaughan

"Winner all Ireland Teen Idol 2010,
Winner RTE Star Search 2008"

"As a young 17 year old artist dreaming of making it big in the music industry with my voice being my weapon of choice, I needed the right tool to make it the best it could be. I’ve been coming to Andres now for nearly 3 years. Before that I had been going to various other singing teachers in an attempt to find someone that could help settle my voice during the breaking period. Getting SLS vocal lessons with Andres has been one of the best things I have ever done and growing up with a teacher like him has been amazing. He has helped my voice develop no end. I’m able to hit notes I could never dream of with ease thanks to his guidance and confidence in me to reach my goals and never lose faith. Andres has not only been a great singing teacher for me, he has been a great friend aswell.
There have been times when my voice has been tired or I have just recovered from an illness and I would be worried that I wouldn’t be able to go to Andres because my voice wouldn’t be strong enough. Andres brings me in and does a session with me that boosts my voice back to what it was and gives me a CD to use at home to further help my recovery.
As I turn 18 I hope to progress from the child singer and be taken seriously as an adult artist, doing gigs and performing professionally. Having Andres there behind me supporting me and coaching my voice all the way instills a confidence in me that I cant describe.
Thank you Andres and heres to the future.
John Gaughan."

Padraig D'Arcy (Wicklow)

"Winner AIMS best male singer 2009"

"My first lesson with Andres was in January 2008. Prior to that, I'd been wishing that an SLS teacher would soon come to Ireland. When I did find out about the Galway Voice Studio, I was so thrilled and excited about the journey ahead... literally - it's a 4 hr. drive from Wicklow! I'd been doing SLS singing technique exercises for years before but without the assistance of a certified teacher. You wouldn't believe the amount of things that 'clicked' and suddenly 'made sense' in that first lesson. I had finally found the pathway to unlocking my potential. Before I started studying with Andres, I was tormented by a flip in my upper register which prevented me from performing the songs I love. Now I can sing higher in my range with comfort, freedom and power. I'm not restricted to just one style either. I sing mainly musical theatre and classical music but I also sing Irish ballads, folk, pop and even rock when I get the chance! Without Andres' teaching and guidance, I believe I wouldn't have won 'Best Male Singer' in the 2008/2009 AIMS Awards. Not only is Andres an excellent teacher and a powerful singer - he's a gentleman and friend. Thank you so much for all your help Andres. I look forward to working with you more when I get back.
Regards, Padraig D'Arcy."

Lucia Evans (Galway)

Winner of You're a Star 2006, IRELAND.

As I write this testimonial, I am listening to the rough recording of my new show, 3Volution and I cannot believe what has happened to my voice in just over 2 years. When I first met Andres I was like so many naturally talented singers out there in that I felt I didn't need any vocal coaching. I was so wrong!!!! During You're A Star in 2006, I knew I was in trouble. At that point I knew I needed help and that Andres was the man for the job. He patiently began undoing years of damage that I had done. At first, it didn't look like I was making much progress. But then I started noticing that notes I hadn't been able to sing since I was a teenager (!!) were starting to sound. Suddenly, I was able to sing from my lowest notes to notes I had forgotten existed. Then the magic began…not only did I notice my range increasing but I was starting to sing with strength and power.Today, thanks to the time and effort Andres has put into every one of our lessons and the wonderful SLS technique, I can walk on stage and sing any Beyonce, Aretha or Leona Lewis song in the exact same keys as they do and with the exact same power. It has been a humbling journey but one that I would take again... but only if Andres was teaching me!

Darren Murphy (Dublin)

Front man for tributes to Queen and The Police

"Singing The Police or Queen material can be a tough task and needs a lot of endurance. Before I went to Andres I was just about getting through gigs but I was struggling with high notes, especially by the end of the night. Singing was sometimes uncomfortable and my voice was suffering as a result for the next day or so. After six months with Andres I have made a big leap, not just in vocal preservation, but also in my tone quality, my range and for the first time I feel like I am finally getting to know my voice, something previous vocal coaches failed to do for me. Now I have more versatility to hit the high notes of Sting, and also power house vocals of Freddie. I drive from Dublin to Galway for my lessons and it is 100% worth it. Stamp of approval, would recommend to any singer. Thanks for everything Andres!"

Singer Message Blank

I have been recieving SLS training from Andres at the G Voice Studio for over a year now, and I have almost gained a full octave in vocal ability which I would have thaught impossible at the beginning. But its not just my range that has improved, my control, diction and power
have improved greatly also. I consider my voice to be my main instrument, and Andres training has been priceless when it comes to performing and recording.

Sinead Cunningham (Scotland)

Singer/Songwriter

"When you pick an instrument to learn you source a good teacher and you practice until you perfect your playing. The same applies to singing. I have always wanted to sing professionally but I had no confidence in my voice lasting the pace. I constantly sang too low which in turn damages the chords. I met Andres and I began to give my voice the attention it deserved just like you would give the guitar or piano. I learned to respect my instrument and it in turn has never let me down when performing. The greatest gift you get from Speech Level Singing is knowing that you can hit every note you want, as long as you believe you can. The technique does the work. Andres is a patient and dedicated teacher and as a professional singer himself he practices what he preaches. His passion for voice training is clearly reflected in the high standard of his students. Thank you Andres.
Cheers, Sinead

Michelle Bailly (Canada)

Singer, Speaker & Communications Specialist

I’ve only had 12 lessons with Andres and the results have been amazing! I must admit, I was a little unsure at first, because the methods were very different from any other type of singing I had studied. But within about 6 weeks, I started to feel and hear the difference to my voice. Andres has already helped me put an octave on to my range quite easily and comfortably. The methods have not only improved my singing but my speaking voice as well. As someone who depends on their voice for their profession, finding Andres have been a great asset for me. Andres is an excellent teacher whose enthusiasm is contagious and a joy to be around. I would highly recommend him to you!

Dave Skelton (Galway)

from Jaga.

"I began vocal lessons with Andres six months ago. He immediately targeted the problem areas with my voice and began to address them with tailor-made lessons.
Singing with Jaga had required me to be right at the edge of my vocal range constantly. Andreas has helped me so far to extend my range, so all of a sudden those high notes don't seem so high any more!
He has also taught me how to relax my vocal chords and tension in my face when I am singing, resulting in a much less harsh and more full-sounding vocal, which is a big part of what I was looking for when I first sought lessons.
I've even found I have no problem singing if I have a sore-throat or cold, etc.
I look forward to taking Andreas' lessons well into the future!"

Carla Merrigan (Galway)

"I have been working with Andres for nearly 3 years now and my vocal ability has improved greatly. My range is increasing all the time which is adding to my performances and songwriting. I can take these
to another level now as I am not restricted vocally anymore.
Only for Andres determination to continually learn new techniques and skills I would have never attended the SLS camp last summer and this was a great experience and opportunity for singer/songwriters.
I am so happy that Andres has brought me out of my shell and guided me this far.
Here's to the future."
